Nightgarden’s Valentine Special

Love Cake on the menu at Nightgarden’s Valentine Special.

Guest chefs at Friday’s Nightgarden, Camp and Furnace’s food, drink and music event are planning to serve up a very special dessert as part of this week’s Valentine’s Day celebrations.

The chefs from Chaat Cart will be preparing an exotic and evocative South Indian Love Cake as the grand finale to their traditional hunting menu, known as Shikari aur Shakthi.

Infused with rose, the dessert will be served with cardamom kulfi and topped with a pistachio crumble and it will round off a mouth-watering feast that includes spiced venison croquettes with coconut chutney and lentil sambar, slow-cooked mutton, wild mushroom rice and pomegranate raita and panfried sea bass with beetroot mash and coconut & turmeric kari.

The Chaat Cart team will be cooking alongside Nightgarden residents Maray, who will be serving a range of dishes from their popular restaurant menus.

Since launching in October, Nightgarden has become the destination of choice for many on a Friday night, exploring and experiencing the delights of the indoor “glitch forest” that’s complete with real trees, plants and giant projections.

As well as a high quality food offer, the event at the Greenland Street venue also includes live music with the resident Mardi Gras band, wine tastings, giant games, performance plus the recent addition of a secret silent disco that’s hidden away in one of the forest clearings.

Talking about guesting at this week’s event, Aarti Pandey, Head Chef from Chaat Cart commented: “Growing up in India, we were often posted to quite remote areas. My father and his friends were keen hunters, so game was a large part of our diet and culture. A feast of game brought people together and was always an occasion to celebrate.” “Shikari means ‘hunter’ and Shakthi means ‘strength’. This menu is a celebration of the hunter and the strength of the wild game and from the meat. It represents the ancient dance of nature and the strength of the flavours.

A Camp and Furnace spokesperson said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Aarti, and looking forward to sampling the hunting menu. Shikari aur Shakthi is all about pursuit and the thrill of the chase – what could be more apt for our Valentine’s Special.”

Nightgarden is open every Friday from 6.00pm until late.
Entry to the event is free, no booking is required.
